i agree with the no-sound rule. and even, to an extent, the offensive rule.
i think what i might do is just utilize google text ads. that should alleviate all of our concerns. no big load times, no annoying noises or images. plus, they'll always be content-driven as (from what i understand) the ads are smart enough to know what the site content is, and sorta "grab" that info.

Do what you gotta do, Rob. I trust that you will not use Flash or other adds that take to fucking long to load for us dial up users (that could change, soon, I hope, the dial up part, I mean). I don't mind a banner along the top, or something like what Yahoo does along the side that can be minimized. Those javascript adds that change pictures all the time are a drag, though, so please just stick with a simple picture add with no motion if that's at all possible.
