I just don't think that Google's ad software is that good. I have yet to see an ad trying to sell me a Big Lebowski DVD or a Yes album.

for the most part, its like a few cents a day. on the better days, i make a few dollars!!
oddly, ads clicked on the "balltoucher.com" site earn me like 50 times more than those clicked from this site.
however, with ad revenue, its tricky. its not just who clicks on the ads, but how many people see them. having them on this site, i reach a few thousand impressions every day which, in and of itself, earns nothing. but, for every click i get, its then multiplied (somehow) by the number of impressions.
thus, y'sorta need both.
i get lotsa built-in impressions here and lotsa clicks on the balltoucher.com site.

But how does this seem to be effecting your expenses with the boards? Does it look like the ads will help you break even? Is there potential that you could earn a profit, thus possibly adding more features to the boards, or at the very least, expanding the bandwith?
How are the ads helping is what I really want to know.

at this point, its mostly a potential thing. sure, $10 or $15 or even $30 a month is great -- who the fuck would turn that down? but, debt-wise, its not like it balances anything out or provides a nice retirement future for me.
what i have seen is the potential of the google ads. minisites, such as balltoucher.com can be an enormous financial generator.
if i could get more people to the site, and more people clicking on the ads there, it works a lot more in my favor than simply working the rkmbs -- and actually, percentage wise, is a great deal more important.
thats why i wanted to start " balltoucher.com" email chains. if each of you sent the link and your high score to 10 people, and each of those hit 10, etc, the link and site would spread out exponentially, and potentially for years. that kinda viral "marketing" to a simple site like balltoucher.com is gold.
email, myspace, posts on other boards, submitting the link to radio station sites or "site of the day" sites or whatever ... hell, just word-of-mouth! thats what makes sites.
