No, I wasn't directly on the coastline, so damage wasn't anything like you might see on the news. I live about forty minutes northeast of New Orleans, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Lots of wind and water damage, but, nothing that couldn't be replaced. The MS coastline is simply gone, now. Just fucking gone.
The water didn't make me sick because (I believe) I used multiple coffee filters to catch any of the dirt and the like. Of course, it was that or...you know...puddle water. We (Cross and I) felt a little sick about two days into the aftermath isolation (no power, no water, no gasoline, little food, roads blocked), but that was probably from the fucking 80+ heat day and night for a week.
You'll meet a few other posters here that went through the same thing (Grimm, thedoctor, and Cross). They might have different stories. But, keep in mind, many others had it far worse in the center of ground zero. There are towns that are just gone now...
