Prometheus said: First of all, "Sacrifice of Angels" was not the episode Dax died. SoA was the re-taking of the station from the Dominion, where Ze'al (Dukat's daughter) dies. Dax was killed in "Tears of the Prophets", the sixth season finale.
Second, while TNG was the prime of Treks from which all others are measured, the DS9 Dominion War was, indeed, its equal.
Third, Voyager was a cardboard cliche' of all other Treks, and quite possibly one of the worst shows ever made. Horrible. Save the holographic Doctor. Robert Picardo is too good of an actor to have to endure those scripts.
Fourth, Enterprise picked up in its third season (like most all Treks do) with the Zindi Conflict. Unfortunately, Berman/Braga felt the need to cancel it after Season Four. Fantastic show. Simple, realistic, and showed the true adversity and hardship of reaching into the vast unknown, and how vulnerable humanity really was in the beginning. I mean, the entire fucking state of Florida was ripped in half. In half! Also, Jolene Blaylock is the hottest woman to ever set foot on the bridge of a starship.
Fifth, welcome back Beardguy! I haven't thought about the good times of Trek in awhile, and, simply reading you posts about TNG and DS9 reminded me to switch to Spike while I was typing this. DS9 is on right now (check the timestamp of this post), and I had forgotten how much fun it is. So, right off the bat you've done me a favor. Thanks chief!
You are very welcome! I am watching Next Generation as I type this, it is "Attached" , the one where Picard and Dr Crusher were captured and had telepathic implants put on them which enabled them to hear the other's thoughts.
Spike has DS 9 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm est, and Next Gen. from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
G 4 has Next Gen. on at 8:00 and 9:00 pm, and 1:00 am. I'm retaping them, as my original Next Gen tapes are from 1987 - 1994! and will buy the complete 7 seasons on dvd.
I guess it was the right time for me to get back in Next Gen..it's been almost a dozen years since the show ended, and that was apparently adequate time to be away from them to appreciate them again.
This year..is the 40 th anniversary of Star Trek..and I am proud to say I was there with episode one of TOS....I was nine years old in September, 1966, and totally in awe of the show....I vividly remember watching " Court Martial ", which was actually " Menagerie, pts 1 and 2 ".......I remember seeing the phaser cannon firing at the top of that mountain and my jaw dropping down and saying " Wow!"
40 years later...and Trek still can get a "Wow" out of me.
Thank you, Mr. Roddenbury, from us all.
