wbam's right. You do tend to say "Jesus Christ!" as an exclamation. Without stretch, any Christian could see that as taking the Lord's name in vain, and thus offensive. If he's offended by it, he has just as much right to ask you to stop as you do to ask people to stop using the term "gay" in a derogatory way.
And if you didn't either stop saying it, well, that would be downright Isaac-Hayesical.
