I am surprised to hear that Americans dont pick on people for having red hair seeing as the saying "Beat him like a red headed step child!" originated from the US!


I have also heard many jokes aimed at red heads in movies & tv shows from the US!

Ok, it might not be a prevailant as here, but it definetly exists in the US!

I think in England its down to the fact that originally red hair was a defining feature of the Scottish, and obviously became a good way of taunting the Scots during the years we were at war with each other, and its just carried on out of tradition!
