There is no evidence that the character Sulu was gay or straight, just like with the fictional character of Dumbledore, who is from the Harry Potter franchise..we have yet to hear if there was ever a Mrs. Dumbledore..or any little Dumbledore's running about. Perhaps then, it is acceptable to simply draw your own conclusions.

Still, I do yearn for the day when it can be casually mentioned that this character or that character in Star Trek at least had anaffair with a man or woman.

As for the gay gene being eliminated? I'd rather see the Terrorism gene be eradicated, as well as the gene that causes people to perform acts of violence against other humans simply because they are different.
