While, in Voyager, Janeway says in the first episode :

" It will take just over 70 years to travel the 75,000 light years back to Earth."



As noted above, the writers played fast and loose with the mathmatics of warp speed. We just have to accept it or else someone will be forced to post a Youtube clip of Shatner telling us to "get a life."
