During a mission to evacute a moon, Kira discovers a stubborn old Bajoran farmer who refuses to leave. When he is wounded by one of the Barjoan guards, Kira is forced to examine how much she has changed since she became the Bajoran adminstrator with the Federation team on the station. In the end she must decide between her desire to protect the underdog and the needs of her people as a whole.

In the end, Kira burns the old man's house down after he says that he'll never leave as long as his house is still standing. She just want shim to survive, even though he says he'll die if he has to live elsewhere... I can understand this, having had to leave places I very much liked being at several times in my life.

The old man and Kira then beam away.

A nice subplot involving Nog and Jake trying to make a profit... they finally manage to do they as they keep trading, and finally trade for some land...land on that same moon the old settler had to leave. Bingo! They make their profit.


This episode is pretty good!
