VOYAGER :

Pathfinder

An obsessed Barclay tries to find a way to communicate with the starship Voyager with the use of an artificially generated micro-wormhole. He becomes so involved that he needs the help of Counsellor Troi to keep his grip on reality.

This is a fantastic episode!

Lt Barclay is transferred off the Enterprise back to Earth.

He misses Enterprise and his friends so badly, that he creates a holodeck program of the Voyager crew.

He has a working theory that the ship can be contacted if a subspace signal is sent through a mini wormhole, using a communications array.

He spends most of his time with his holo- Voyager friends, as he is lonely and has not made any new friends.

He has a cat whom he has named Neelix.

His superior officer tells him that his time is up and his plan won't work.

Barclay waits outside Admiral Paris' office until the Admiral agrees to meet with him, but when Barclay tells him of his plan, he tells him that he'll think on it.

Barclay's superior tells Barclay to abandon his work and the Voyager holo- program, and then locks him out of it.

Barclay later breaks into it, and, with security officers chasing him, actually manages to contact and get a response from Voyager.

Marina Sirtis guest stars as Counselor Troi.

This is another one I'd put into my top 20 best Voyager episodes.
