Annoying you yes.
If you say so.
Anyway, the game turned out to not be as exciting as I had hoped, with Chicago falling flat in the bottom of the 11th. Cleveland took 2 of 3 from the Sox. I don't know that says anything just yet, but I am curious as to why Chicago messed with it's winning formula. I guess we'll see at the end 162 games if it paid off heading into the playoffs.

Thank goodness the Tigers didn't swing for the fences like Penwing urged them not to. They might have finished third in the AL in homeruns and made the playoffs, then outhomered the Yankees 6-4 and advanced to the ALCS.
Who would have complained about how awful the team was if that had happened?!?

No, they'll actually win the World Series.
Buck Showalter manages the Yankees in '95. Is fired in the offseason. In 1996, the Yankees win the Series.
Buck Showalter manages the D'backs in 2000. Is fired in the offseason. In 2001, the D'backs win the World Series.
Buck Showalter manages the Rangers in 2006....

Yeah, that's been a bit of a Ranger fan joke ever since the guy was hired. Somehow, I have a feeling the pattern is about to end...sadly. Those teams were a combined 22 games over .500; the '06 Rangers were two games under.

y'think they should make all post-season series best of 7?

Yes, I do. I don't know if it would have helped the Yankees, but I feel a best of 7 is the only way to truly tell which team is better. Plus, it would mean extra playoff games and a more interesting division series.

just seems weird to have a 162 game season, then a quick 5 game series before moving on to two 7's. its much easier to steal a 5 gamer by winning 3 quick games, allowing, perhaps, the lesser of two teams to advance.
if anything, i'd think it should be 7 in the first round and 5 in the final

The World Series is "supposed" to have the two best teams playing, though, while the CS is "supposed" to have two of the worst(in the playoffs). You want to see the best teams play it all the way through.
I wouldn't object to making the first round a best of seven, though that would mean you'd see a lot more November baseball...
