TNA has also been helped by the removal of WCW from the scene. WWE just isn't as capable of snagging talent in the numbers that they and WCW used to do together. TNA has maintained a very good roster over the years. Its non-traveling, taping 2 days a month (1 day for PPV and one day for shows) allows them to keep their costs down on production and contracts since their wrestlers have time to do other shows to earn money. Overall, it's a smarter business plan than Heyman had. But, as you said, it wouldn't have worked ten years ago without the internet being as big and capable as it is now.
