In Australia, we call them "prawns". "Shrimp" was a word for which Paul Hogan copped some grief. It was part of an Australian tourism campaign in the 80s, broadcast in the US, coinciding with the relase fo the sequal to Crocodile Dundee, IIRC.

And barbequed prawns are delicious.
