Men involved in fight clubs often carry bottled-up violent impulses learned in childhood from video games, cartoons and movies, said Michael Messner, a university of Southern California sociology and gender studies professor....
"Real-life fight clubs are the male version of the girls who cut themselves," he said. "All day long these guys think they're the captains of the universe, technical wizards. They're brilliant but empty.
"They want to feel differently. They want to get hit, they want to feel something real."
This guy is so full of shit! Apparently, professor Messner's testicles never dropped. Otherwise, he would know that testosterone has bizzare affects on men, like aggressive behavior. BUT NOOOOO...... he's got to blame it on the video games. And then to say that they are "the male version of the girls who cut themselves." I've know guys who were cutters; wouldn't male cutters be the male equivalent or female cutters? And for that matter why don't we lump football players, boxers, martial artists, olympic wrestlers, and professional wrestlers into this "male equivalent" category. I'm sure that if interviewed, everyone of them would say that they participate in these activities because it makes them feel alive.
I'm usually on baord with the bleeding-heart-liberal-Southern-California-university crowd, but this guy is a jackass.
I am a man with needs. Rack JLA!!!
