This doesn't sound right. It seems there is no place for a party line on politics in religion. You're always going to get individual pastors who gun their own interpretation, but the crux of Christianity is the New Testement. You don't believe that then you're not a Christian.
That's not to say you can't be a good person ( I'm no Christian and I try to do good things) but you're not in the band if you can't play guitar.
