I think they used Reeve as a character before Gore so, technically, the Gore figure would be the Reeve cutout with some differences.

No, Pro. Read it again. Ray is saying they first used it as a Gore figure and then as Reeve. I'm saying they first used it as a Reeve figure and then as Gore.

On the Bendis Board, Bald Steve posted about the upcoming "Superman Returns" DVD project, with his post being picked up by Rich Johnston:

So I spoke to a guy who worked on Superman Returns RE: DVD details and production.

DISCLAIMER #1: This comes from a guy whose name appears within the first 30-50 listed in the opening credits so I would think this stuff is legit. It is all heresay, though, so take what you will and leave the rest.

    1. Wait before buying the DVD unless you just want a bare-bones edition with only a few deleted scenes and such. There's a extended edition coming which will include a pretty long sequence where Supes is piloting a Kryptonian spaceship (just like the crystal one he took to Earth) and actually finds a pretty large chunk of the planet. Here is where several more Brando scenes occur as well as other scenes with the actress who played Kal-El's mother (digitally recreated, obviously). Singer demanded all effects be finished so this stuff is already in the can. It will NOT be on the initial DVD release, though, as it is already complete.

    2. That scene where Clark throws the baseball out to the horizon and the dog looks him like, "Yeah, right"? In a deleted scene set later that night over dinner the dog actually returns with the ball. Clark picks it up, spins it on the table and the spinning ball morphs into the Daily Planet Globe and serves as a pretty cool transition to Metropolis. I don't believe this will appear on the initial DVD release either.

    3. The entire process slowed to a crawl towards the end because *ALLEGEDLY* Singer's partying had gotten rather "extreme" to say the least. He would apparently show up in the editing room still wrecked from the night before and be unable to function. According to my source he had "completely lost interest" in the whole endeavor about two months out from release due to his excessive partying and studio demands re: the film's running time.

no. i was saying its the same figure they use for gore with some differences. obviously they have a reeve figure so i was saying its probably the same as the gore figure because the face looks like the same type.

PS: Note to rex.

Superman Returns is a movie, making it a fitting subject for the media forum, even if it doesn't star George Clooney and wasn't directed by Michael Moore.

Note to rex:

Ray and I were discussing Superman and South Park.

Superman is a movie. South Park is a TV show.

Superman used to be a TV show. South Park was once a movie.

TV and movies are a form of media.

We're on topic. Try to stay there too, please.

I think we're all losing track of the important point, which is that Singer was allegedly hung over and/or stoned while editing the movie and that no one should buy the first DVD because an extended cut will be out after that.

Incorrect. The important point is that Superman is back in theaters in the new movie Superman Returns. The DVD is a while off.

I bet he was the first hollywoodactor/producer/director to party hard while filming a movie.

First of all, Singer is a good director. His X-films were great. I think the problem with Superman Returns is, unlike the X-films, he wasn't really trying to make a movie so much as he was trying to recreate a feeling he had as a kid. And that never works for creators.
Second, Singer has no real say over how the DVDs are released and, if this is true, its hardly the first time a studio has done this.

That's ridiculous...How does that affect anything? That'd be like comparing the fact that everyone loves the fucking 'Davinci Code' (novel, not the film....as I'm unaware of it's box office winnings) to the actual quality of that tripe.

The movie was solid, and delivered on everything it promised. If the public isn't into the whole 'Superman' trip (and the public as a whole is a mindless void; you know this)...no big deal. I think it was a fantastic movie none the less. Why are we

Yeah, I'm not sure why the interviewers thought it was particularly important to ask Bosworth, Routh and Singer about the "Pirates" sequel.

However, I gotta say that Singer's flop sweat, stammering, answer was funny as hell, especially when you compare it to the relatively poised responses from Routh and Bosworth, neither of whom I would have thought capable of outthinking Singer on anything.

What a horribly average movie. The only thing this movie did for me was remind me how much superman sucks. Titty or Bitty or whatever that cunts name needed to be slapped and Kate Bosworth needs to start keeping her food down. I expected better from Singer. This was nothing more than comic book fanboy wank material, the complete opposite of Singers x-men movies. Singer couldn't rise above the bar he set with x-men 2.

The original Fantastic Four cartoon from 1966 was better than the Fantastic Four movie of 2005!

I agree, Not Wedge. It is a movie to see ONCE and ONCE only. I will NOT be buying the dvd when it comes out.

I do recommend to people to go see it, though.. The visual effects are stunning....

Yeah, but it was like a technical test they stuck a vague story around. I agree there were some great visuals and the plane rescue was cool. I just wish there was an interesting story to go with the visuals.

Me too. I thought we MIGHT be getting a movie comparable to X 2, but what we got was more pretty boy Superman garbage.

X 2 remains the BEST ever superhero movie, IMO....
