Along with the massive box set they're releasing for the Superman films this fall, they also gave Donner some money to re-edit his footage (which was mostly cut and reshot by Lester) to give the closest thing possible to his version of Superman II.
Either way, this article is an interesting read and this DVD would be pretty neat, practically a brand new Reeve film.
