But that's the thing. They wouldn't improve their bottom line by charging late fees. Late fees are why people flocked away from Blockbuster to other options. Why do you think so many Blockbuster stores participated in the "Forgive All Fees" promotion? But by the time Blockbuster snapped to and made the change, it was too late. Why drive to Blockbuster to hopefully rent a movie or game, only to end up either with whatever was available, or a scratched up copy of a flick when the Netflix copy is generally pristine and comes on a "want-a-movie" basis?
