One time I found Action #1 and the original Superman Red/Superman Blue story (from like... a long time ago) online. That rocked. Later on I searched them again, but I the Red/Blue story had been taken down. Surely the DC wankers sued the site or something. That sucked.
The Erradicator's purpose was to preserve Kryptonian life, so when Superman died the Erradicator's "configuration" made him steal Superman's body from the grave and place it in a pod in the Fortress. The pod absorbed solar energy from the sun and "charged" Superman's body with it, taking him back to life. The problem was that the Erradicator went nuts and thought HE was Superman, so he started stealing the solar energy and using it to pretend to have powers. While the Erradicator was away, Superman got out of the pod and used a Kryptonian War Robot to escape the Fortress and go to Metropolis.
Later on Doctor Occult explained all this to Superman, and Supes asked if he could come back to life simply by taking a sunbath should he die again. Occult answered no, because a lot of different stuff happened to make the "miracle" possible (like the mystic stuff in Adventure #500 and the Erradicator's intervention).
