Harlan Ellison - cuts across almost every fiction genre, great author, mostly short stories

Elmore Leonard - mystery/crime novels, great dialogue, fast reads

John D. MacDonald - his Travis McGee series is amazing, more great dialogue, more serious/grittier than Leonard

Andrew Vachss - more crime/thriller novels, grimm & gritty but great, Shella is a standalone novel that will give you a taste for his style

Terry Pratchett - hilarious fantasy, has the Discworld series and standalone novels, co-wrote Good Omens with Neil Gaiman (probably my favorite book), I highly recommend Reaper Man

Christopher Moore - this guy is absolutely hilarious, hasn't written a bad book; my favorites are A Dirty Job, Bloodsucking Fiends, and Practical Demonkeeping

MisterJLA: RACKS so hard, he called Jim Rome "Chris Everett." In Him, all porn is possible. He is far above mentions in so-called "blogs." RACK him, lest ye be lost!

"I can't even brush my teeth without gagging!" - Tommy Tantillo: Wank & Cry, heckpuppy, and general laughingstock
