After viewing the first two Indiana Jones flicks Theory9, Silver Armadillo, our Dad and myself began discussing which of the trilogy was the best opening......even some arguing one being one of the best ALL TIME film openings?
Which film openings did you love, Indiana Jones or not?
on a side note to which Silvi will concur...as kids after Superman 2's opening with flashback to the first film I yelled THE END which caused our father to become quite upset!!!!!

Great openings-
Fight Club- great disorienting effect
Unbreakable- made me kinda squeamish
Fearless- director Peter Weir's most underrated film, and one of my favorites...great openning sequence involving an airliner crash...
Of the Jones films, I'd have to go with "Temple of Doom"...great song and dance number....

I love the first 2 Indiana Jones opening sequences. The first movie just a bit more...maybe. The beginning of the second Star Wars movie where Luke and Co. save Hans rates rigt up there also!

Clockwork Orange was something else, I don't know what I'd pick but that would be among my favorites.
As for best ending, I'd go with Usual Suspects and Unbreakable, it's probably because I'm a sucker in some respects but I didn't see either endings coming(did see Sixth Sense one though).

All three Indiana Jones movies Pulp Fiction Reservoir Dogs Trainspotting Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels Snatch (for introducing all the characters) Mission: Impossible Charlie's Angels
(I like the latter two because the opening sequences were cut to look like they were from TV shows, with lots of random action footage from "episodes" we will never see.) [ 07-22-2002, 01:17 AM: Message edited by: Big Bad Voodoo Lou ]

Im still going with Indy 2!
The whole bit has you on edge up until the raft comes to a halt next to the old dude on the elephant!
But I gotta agree with alot of what else was said!
I havent seen Clockwork Orange in awhile so I forgot how that goes.
Never seen MI not a big Cruise fan. But I did like the fake episodes in Charlies Angel.

The openning of David Lynch's Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is a shock to the senses the first time ya see it...then ya get the joke, what with the axe smashing the television set...

I like Ghost World's opening sequence.. .I'm not sure what it has to do with the movie, but I like that song.

Eh, I don't know if I'd put SPR up there, it felt a little preachy, though the part where the camera zooms out showing the enormous number of graves was a powerful scene.
Anybody seen Brotherhood of the Wolf? The opening scene to that was really trippy, fantastic camera work there.
The opening scene from the Matrix was also extraordinary.
