A variety of online reports tracking back to Japanese investment bank Nikko Citigroup report that the firm issued a report this week claiming that Nintendo has secured a better than anticipated manufacturing cost for the Wii's Broadway CPU. The firm now expects a retail price of 19,800 yen ($170.07) in Japan, significantly lower than Nikko Citigroup's previous expectation of 25,000 yen ($214.74). This is at odds with last week's rumors from IGN , which pegged the console's US price as $229. Even if Nikko Citigroup's information is correct, it is very likely that the console's price in the United States would be $199.
Nintendo was not available for comment at press time.Hard to beat those numbers, folks. Im a Sony faithful, but I may be a Marioboy once again if things are headed the way they're lookin. Or I could wait til Christmas '08 when PS3 might dip to $400 due their dismal sales drop off that will inevitably occur once all the hardcore have their PS3s and no one else is willing to buy a $600 console.

wii still has no launch price, so this is all just speculation and crap. but i think its a reasonably safe bet to put wii at between $200-250.
$200 is clearly the more appealing of the two, but i really wouldn't mind seeing a $250 system that came with a game or two (wii sports would be the ultimate package to showcase the new controls)

Every Nintendo console has launched for two hundred dollars in the U.S.
The Wii will be the same. From what I've read Nintendo seems ready to officially announce everything very soon.

Sounds good for the Nintendo enthusiasts. However, I still don't mind shelling out a big-6 for the PS3. Of course, I may still try the Wee-Wee with the change left over...

This means that Nintendo will either announce the price and launch date during next weeks LGC or they will announce the info sometime before September 15.

What's Nintendo got planned for September 14? Well... something. Something big, hopefully.
Thanks to a tastefully-decorated Wii-emblazoned invitation, 1UP is heading for a party on September 14th. The invitation reads, simply "Please Join Us for a Celebration of Video Games". Since Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has promised to be there in person with a little something called "the upcoming line up," we suppose we can fit it in.
Popular wisdom might lead a body to believe that such an event could provide Nintendo the perfect opportunity for dropping a bomb or two -- say, the official Wii release date and price point? Those of you paying attention might remember that Microsoft also chose Sept. 14 as the day those particular facts crystallized for the Xbox 360.
This party is strictly Invitation Only, and, no, the tickets aren't transferrable, so stop asking. You have our assurance that your favorite 1UP personalities will be there in force, drinking Reggie's beer and bringing you the skinny as it happens.

yeah, nintendo teased that at e3 then confirmed shortly after. though, they still haven't mentioned the final price, they guaranteed it would be under 250.
