The first step was to stop all advertising boards hosting cigarette ads within a certain vicinity of schools!
Next it was stopping adverts on tv for cigarettes.
And now, there is a total ban on cigarette advertising!
I would say that in this instance, Boomerang has done this to protect themselves in case the government decided that they were breaking laws by seemingly showing something that paints smoking in a positive light!
Bullshit I know that it might be viewed as this, but when do things like this ever make sense when the morally righteous get involved?
As Boomerang is aimed at kids, I can sorta understand them taking a tougher stance on this and not wanting to risk possible prosecution, but editing is not the answer!
The simplest thing is simply to not show that particular cartoon!
I'm in agreement with Nowhereman on this. Boomerang, like any TV network or station, has to look at its bottom line. It has to keep viewers and sponsors while not racking up fines. But the solution is in simply not showing those episodes instead of re-editing them. I'm not a fan of trying to whitewash the past by changing things in old cartoons and/or movies.
