I've been lucky enough that only one person that I was close to has died, and that was my grandmother who passed away nineteen years ago this month.
Her funeral was the only one I've ever been to. At the funeral everyone was upset and crying and miserable. It was a horrible experience for most of the people there and I hated it.
Afterwards we all went to a restaurant and shared stories of her. It was a great experience with everyone remembering the good times they had with her.
That is how I want my memorial service to be. No depressing funeral, just a nice get together of family and friends remembering me in a positive way.
As for the whole burial or cremation thing, I want to be cremated and shot into space. Its been done a lot recently at Vandenberg Air Force Base and since I was born there I think it would be a fitting way to go.
