Not bad. Sawyer kicking ass was fun. Jin kicking ass was, also, fun. But, as per usual with LOST, the last five minutes are always the most intriguing. At least we were shown that the outside world still exists...

No, it was hinted at, with the guys in the "possible" arctic and the woman answering her phone in the finale. The "arctic" could have been NYC, and the world was frozen over. The woman could have been getting a call from inside an underground bunker. It's LOST...

alright, well, then this could have been the phantom zone red sox that actually won the world series in the month of impossitober!!!!!
the woman answering her phone in the finale and the island folk having a book club and the main island lady knowing all about jack's life, with updates on the ex wife and how she's doing on boston legal...
that pretty much summed up their contact with the outside world to me.
the first and second episodes of this season would have been much better as a two hour premiere.

Ah, and she didn't mention Boston Legal, did she? So, therefore, they could all be in the future, and she was lying!

It was a "Jack" story. I wasn't paying attention....

Good episode! Solid writing and pacing. Very little flashback, yet, very relevant. This is the first episode to remind me of Season One's Locke since that very season. As Terry O'Quinn promised, "the shaman" Locke is making a comeback. And, it looks like he's ready to re-join the group in the leadership role he should have always been. You want a strong leadership? Jack, Locke, and Sayid. Give them Sawyer as back-up, and you've got a team you can't beat. Good stuff! Hope it continues this pace...

BTW, nice Boone cameo, as well. Glad to see past actors appear like that.
A note about Locke's vision:
Boone had something to say about everyone he saw....except Hurley. He noted that Claire and Charlie don't need help right now, Sayid is taking care of Jin and Sun, and there's nothing he could do about Jack, Sawyer, and Kate for the moment. Yet, when we saw Hurley (handing out tickets, no less), he just said "No, not Hurley". Nothing else. Am I looking too deep here?
And, Desmond can see the future now? Weird...

I thought about Hurley too. Especially him being behind the ticket counter.

At this point, Pro, I think it's not possible to look too deeply into some of this. Even small hints are still hints, y'know?

I'm from in my pants!
It was a really good episode and I was glad to see that three of the most interesting characters (Locke, Desmond and Eko) are still alive.

They asked the casting firm to find a "Hillary Swank" look-alike. We got her.
So, damn......didn't see the Eko thing coming at all!

i'm assuming they're just character-device types.
like, they sorta overtly explain the situations to one another in an effort for the writers to explain to newer viewers just what the fuck is going on in this horrifically opposing "jump in" show

i think they're mary sue characters who were created because without jack, kate, and sawyer they needed someone else to fill out the losties. obviously bernard and rose are too old to trek through the jungle so they created these losers.

I don't understand why they just couldn't focus on the characters we already have, instead of constantly trying to force new "caricatures" on us. Didn't they learn their lesson with Anna-Lucia? She was created to be the "love interest" for Jack, just as this "Juliet" in the Others camp is intended to be. Now, we've added "Pretty Boy" and "Spunky Girl". What about Claire? Hurley? Sayid? Locke? Bernard? Rose? Desmond? Charlie? How about after three years of focusing on these characters, they continue to do so, and meat up their stories first. Claire (not that I like her) has fallen completely off the radar, as have Rose and Bernard. Hurley makes cameos. Sayid has lines anyone could say. Jin and Sun were nowhere to be seen this week. What happened to using the entire cast in an episode? They did this so effortlessly in the first year. Why the need to spread them all out now?
And, personally, this whole Others storyline has completely demystified them for me. I find myself anticipating the day Jack, Sawyer, and Kate are back at the camp. Do I care that Henry "Ben" Gale is dying? Not even a little. Either do something cool with The Others, explain who and what they are, or get past it and back to the coolness. This tepid wandering of the plots is getting tiresome...

I fell asleep about half way into it. The whole eko flashback shit bored me. I'm glad they finally killed him off. Now they can concentrate on more interesting characters.

Here's what I'm interested in when it comes to LOST: 1) Answers and explanations about the Hanso Corporation, The Others, the Dharma Initiative, and the supernatural nature of the island and its monsters.
2) Why Locke was in a wheelchair.
3) Why Desmond can see the future when the writers want him to (notice he didn't see old Eko getting smoked).
4) Walt. Anyone ever going to explain that kid?
5) The overall point/purpose of the show. I swear they're trying to get a message or point across, but, I just can't make it out through all the jumbled storylines and commerical needs of ABC. What I'm not interested in, and don't care to ever see again: 1) Charlie & his heroin. Charlie and his Driveshaft. Charlie and Claire. Charlie being ambiguous. Charlie being a prat. Charlie.
2) Any backstory that doesn't directly involve matters on the island. I don't care if you have a great back story about Sawyer conning someone that parallels him being a dick on the island. I don't care if Jack's fifteenth flashback deals with the time his father cheated him during a game of Battleship. I don't care that Kate robbed Fort Knox, only to give the gold to her dead boyfriend's favorite charity. The flashback plot device is exhausted. Season Two is the Season of the Flashback. It's done. Focus on the here and now. And, if focusing on the island is too much trouble or hard work because you don't want to reveal all your plot secrets, then go back to daytime soaps and let real writers give us some drama and intrigue. You suck.
3) Claire. Really. Kill her. Done.
4) Michael screaming: "WALT!! WAAAALLLTTT!!!"
5) Jeph Loeb That's my take. Anyone else?

I actually really liked him at first. the episode where he found his dead brother in that plane that just happened to crash on the island ruined his character for me.
