It was just too much of a coincidence. I can suspend my disbelief only so far.

I want to know this also, but its long overdue. They were going to put this is season two but then they pushed it to season 3, now it looks like it will be in the second part of season 3 (in fucking February!)

Quote:

3) Why Desmond can see the future when the writers want him to.

Probably the worst part of season three so far. Its another one of those things that is too far-fetched or unbelievable. It seems to me that this gives the "island in a snow globe'.

Quote:

4) Walt. Anyone ever going to explain that kid?

I just want to see what him and his dad are doing now that they're off the island.

Quote:

5) The overall point/purpose of the show. I swear they're trying to get a message or point across, but, I just can't make it out through all the jumbled storylines and commerical needs of ABC.

Five seasons and a movie. When all of that ends you will understand it all. Supposedly.

Five seasons?! You mean I have to wait another two-and-a-half years?? THEN a movie, as well? Where are you getting this info from?

I got it from a link off spoilerfix.com. It was from an interview with Abrams in some magazine.

i've heard, and hate, the movie idea.

tv is great, cuz everyone sees the same episode at (basically) the same time.

with a movie, especially with something as horrifically secret spoiler-intensive as this fucking show, you'll have people seeing it on day 1, some not able until day 5, some day 30... just annoying.

i don't watch the show. but from what i've seen a movie may be the way to go since the fat guy seems to have gotten fatter!

And, to be fair, one of my favorite friends there is blind and I take every opportunity available to make fun of that and we're still friends. That guy never fit there. He never got the spirit of the RKMBs. We're gonna keep an eye on the obits, see if he finally left or if he really did have a heart attack.

Loved this episode. Hated that Eko died. I think I was the only person in America that actually liked the tailies... and was confident that the producers would keep Eko around if, for no other reason, than to make their inclusion into the plot something worthwhile.

I was wrong.

Still, I like the idea of Desmond having 'second sight'. Saving Claire, knowing about Locke's speech, etc. I'm guessing it has something to do with singular 'visions' rather than an all-encompassing "I-know-all" bit, which would ruin his character in my mind. It would also explain why he could foresee something happening to Claire, but not Eko.

Unlike Pro, I'm not detered by the 'demystifying' of the Others. If anything, it makes them more human, which I like. We knew from Season Two that they weren't the people we thought they were, but I think it's unfair to balk when they are revealed to be something other than what we thought they were going to be. Do I care about Henry's cancer? No. But I do like the Jack/Juliet dynamic (for now) and how it plays in with the Ben/Juliet dynamic. I do like that there seems to be a grander scheme involved. I, for one, am still curious about the lists, the polar bears, their connection with the Dharma Initiative, etc.

As to flashbacks... I am wearying of them to an extent. The last really good one was Hurley's flashback in "Dave" last season... or maybe Desmond's from the finale. Still, the show is character-driven more than it is anything else, which means that the characters are the reason I tune in (I don't know about the rest of you). I have my favorites, sure - Locke, Sayid, Eko (R.I.P.), Desmond, and Hurley - but it's the characters that help make this drama for me. The plot points are icing on the cake.

Personally, I think that if they start rushing plot points, things will begin to get sloppy. While I don't necessarily like the new characters just yet, I'm willing to give them a shot rather than pass judgement so early in the season. I like this show enough to let it progress organically and stick with it until either it's done or takes a flying leap over the shark.

As near as I can tell, neither has happened yet.

Anyway, just a few thoughts from your Friendly Neighborhood Walrus. Take them as you will.

Kate Loves Jack, not Sawyer
by Michael Canfield

Last night on Lost Sawyer and Kate got busy in broad daylight right under the Others' surveillance cameras. Sawyer loves Kate, we know. I'm guessing he is pretty sure now that Kate loves him too.

I hate to break it to Sawyer, but I see things completely differently. If I'm right, which is far from certain, of course, Kate doesn't love Sawyer, although she is attracted to him. She may or may not have admitted it to herself yet, but Kate loves Jack. Here's why I think so ...

First, I think that Kate slept with Sawyer because, as she keeps saying to him, she didn't want him to give up and die, and she certainly knows that Sawyer loves her. That, along with the tension of imprisonment, and fearing for their lives gets them together, but it doesn't mean she's in love with him.

Furthermore, we saw in the flashback that she ran away from her husband, Nathan Fillion's character. Kate doesn't think she deserves anything or anyone good.

Jack is good, at least in Kate's mind. So there's more of a reason she would go toward Sawyer, when she really loves Jack. You still might argue that she prefers a bad-boy like Sawyer, but she gives herself away when she tells Jack over the walkie-talkie that she won't leave without him. She does not say we won't leave without him. She's only thinking about Jack at that point. She'd rather die than leave without Jack, just as Sawyer would rather die than leave Kate behind.

I have nothing against the actor.

But, it's a shame he used to work for Joss Whedon...

Man, talk about a useless flashback! That whole thing had to have been written in, like, two minutes. I mean, what was the point of that entire thing? Oooh, Kate has to run because that's what she does? After three years of the show, let me answer by saying: No. Fucking. Shit.

It was designed so incredibly poor that Jeph Loeb's taint was all over that script...

Lost is moving to ten PM when it comes back from hiatus. ABC doesn't want it to compete with American Idol.
