Liked the finale, very well done & satisfying.
The part Hurley plays was the best. Hate any of the plane survivors getting the ax but tonight's death was expected & well done.
How did folks feel about the flash forward? Since they have a definite end point this could be a great switch. The future so far doesn't look so happy though.
Fair play!

I'm thinking somehow Jack, Kate and someone else (Locke? was is his funeral that Jack went to?) got off the island and left everyone else, thats why Jack felt guilty.
I didn't care for this one too much. Especially after last years season finale.

Sawyer killing Tom (HA!) and then saying "Thats for taking the kid off the boat" was my favorite part of the show.

That was awesome. Of course every flashback we've seen till before this episode is a flashback, but I think it'd be cool if from now on they do this backwards and use the interludes as flash forwards. That way instead of piecing the personal stories together, you're piecing the whole plot. The whole thing gives the show enough of a new spin to keep it alive for a couple more seasons.

The thing about the flash forwards is that, for all we know, the island involves time paradoxes (Desmond's 'visions') and/or time travel (the fact that 'Batmanuel' [Richard] has seemingly not aged since Ben was a child). Therefore, even if we see, for example, Jack and Kate in the 'future,' that doesn't per se mean that the future is set in stone.

I agree, especially with establishing Desmond's ability to alter timelines.

found this online -- the article beard jack read:
The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue.
Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft.
Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room.
According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son.
Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening.

I'm guessing whoever John Lantham is, he represented a chance for Jack to get back to the island. Maybe he's one of the guys from Naomi's crew.

so, when the boss doctor confronted jack about his suicide attempt and drinking problem, and jack blurted out something like "get my father upstairs and see if i'm as drunk as him" or whatever...
whatcha think, did jack just not remember his dad died? is this an alternate "desmond vision" reality, perhaps brought on when charlie knocked him out? did jack's father not really die, at all? or did he revive, somehow, on the island?

On May 7, 2007, ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson announced that Lost will end during the 2009-2010 season with a "highly anticipated and shocking finale."[41] "We felt that this was the only way to give it [Lost] a proper creative conclusion," McPherson said. Beginning with the 2007-2008 television season, the final 48 episodes of Lost will be aired as three seasons with sixteen episodes each. Thus, Lost will conclude with its sixth season. These seasons are to air uninterrupted from February to May.

Why not have two seasons of 24 eps each? It seems to me that shorter seasons spread out over more years are likely to piss people off and the wait will make them care less about the ultimate conclusion
