No, I still have no telephone. And my speakers aren't working for some reason.

You don't need a telephone. We have them through yahoo. You can get a headset for about 20 to 30 bucks.

And, to be fair, one of my favorite friends there is blind and I take every opportunity available to make fun of that and we're still friends. That guy never fit there. He never got the spirit of the RKMBs. We're gonna keep an eye on the obits, see if he finally left or if he really did have a heart attack. 2,506,410.81 CAD Rack points

I have every Charlie Chaplin movie ever made except for THE GOLDRUSH. Charlie Chaplin sounds like a male humanoid life form.

How in the hell did you manage to get every Chaplin flick, except Gold Rush?? That's like saying I own every song recorded by Men Without Hats, except for Safety Dance.

The version of Goldrush that Chaz narrated is the re-edited version. Try the one that is truely silent. At the end he and the leading lady Georgia get real close and then in real life had a bad bad relationship - then Charlie Chaplin went back and re-did it, cutting the "sweet" ending short and dubbing his voice over it (to better attract the newer talkies audiances).

Maybe I'll get a headset for voice chat and maybe I'll get a tattoo and a tooth re-filled. Maybe I'll buy groceries or some cat litter. Who knows.

I second that; I much prefer the silent version with the "You've spoilt the picture" ending. It should have been the "A-side" on the recent Chaplin Collection edition, but I was just happy to get such a nice quality version of it.

A truly silent version of Goldrush is exactly what I want! I have heard a few Chaplin movies with narration, and it does not impress me.

Go for the recent Chaplin Collection. It was released in two sets (and each movie individually). If you're looking for some of the best Chaplin silents, go for City Lights, Circus, Gold Rush, and The Kid.
Also - apart from the aforementioned collection - there is another collection out there of Chaplin's shorter Mutual films, which shows him really hitting his stride with some of the best work of his career. Plus, there's the awesome supporting cast he had back then, such as the irreplacable Eric Campbell as his nemesis, and Edna Purviance as his love interest. (And if you like those, check out the Essanay Collection, of still-earlier stuff.)

I like Alfred Albert myself. Edna is so hot though. Ever see the Kid Auto Race? The one he haphazard-ed the classic costume for? It's good, I tells ya.

You mean Albert Austin, the skinny guy? He's great! The more ridiculous facial hair they could pile on him, the more I loved it.
Kid Auto Races at Venice is suh-weet. You can absolutely see the spark that caught everyone's eye... that little bit of genius that made such a mundane scenario hilarious.
...And, yes, Edna is. That Charlie was a lucky boy.

Albert Austin, yeah. All I ever remember is that it's A.A. My fave with him is (I forget the name) the one where he and Chaplin are alternately working the counter at a pawn shop or something. There's a kitchen in the back or a laundry, I forget, but it's great watching them screw eachother over with the boss.

Yes! The Pawn Shop is one of my favorite Mutuals.
Have you ever seen the documentary series "Unknown Chaplin"? They just released it on DVD, last year, I think. Fascinating stuff.
