Yeah, but, isn't it truly telling how accepting we've become of mediocre shit? If a show doesn't nail it out of the ballpark, or, at least grab us in a way that's truly riveting the first time, then, why accept it and say "Oh it might get better"? That, to me, is a symptom of why television is so shitty these days (not the only symptom, mind you). We accept subpar, because that's all we've come to expect.

And, don't tell me tv can't do it right. LOST nailed it with perfection with its pilot. So did 4400's and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA's respective miniseries. Some say "24" did, as well (I don't know...never watched it). So, why accept things like SMALLVILLE and this HEROES because it "might" get better? Is it because it has some passing glance at a genre we enjoy (in this case, comic books)? Don't you find such an obvious half-ass attempt at playing on your affection for a genre somewhat, you know, insulting?

BTW, this is all sincere curiosity...not an attack, or a negative accusation...

If we don't at least show mild interest in the fantasy/ sci-fi genre shows, the networks are gonna fall back on crappy teen dramas, shitty reality shows, and sitcoms that just aren't funny.

Not if we don't watch them either.
