Ah... yes, now I remember. You didn't have cable for Season 3, so you had Rowe tape it for you.

JD, normally I would concede the humor. However, you're simply wrong at this point. Rowe never taped Smallville for me. Arrested Devlopment, Frasier, even Friends? Yep. Not Smallville. That's a fact, man.

You were watching it. You were liking it (minus the Lana bits). And you were gay for Michael Rosenbaun. Admit it.

Ah, so, when you're wrong, you resort to taking shots? Rosenbaum was, and probably still is, the only good actor on that show. You disagree, fine. Doesn't change anything.

I guess I'll just have to get Cross to remind you of the Smallville tapes Rowe brought over from her apartment next door for you. He, of course, doesn't have to confirm the man-crush since you had to correct me on how to spell your dear Lex Luthor's last name.

While you're at it, feed me that line again about how The Gilmore Girls had great dialogue.

Oh dear. Just because something doesn't have cult-fave jokes with Bruce Campbell, or relate on the dick-and-fart level, it's automatically beneath your notice? Sorry the wit and dialogue is too high-brow for you. And, meanwhile, I'll go on lusting after Lauren Graham...

You mean dialogue in line with Joss Whedon's? I found the same fault with that show that I found with Buffy and everything else Whedon's done. The dialogue is fast paced but all the same. You could easily switch lines from one character to the next without anyone noticing. That's not clever. That's repetitious.

If Lost had the plan and drive to continue on for a second season, Loeb would never have been hired. His being hired is proof that that show shot its load in the first season and that the writers/creators didn't know where else to take it.

Well, man, that's just incredibly sheer speculation on your part, my man. The fact that Paul Dini left meant they had to fill the slot. The fact that they hired Jeph Loeb just means that he continues his original contract with Satan. Because Loeb writes for Marvel and DC, does that make the entire company bad?

BTW, just how much of LOST have you actually even watched? Just curious.

I've seen none and have stated it. I've also stated that what I've said comes from what I've heard other people say.

As far as the Marvel/DC question, you're the one with the argument that Loeb is killing off shows by his writing. I'm saying that he's obviously got the reputation as a go-to guy to help shows when they need it. That's how he got the Smallville gig as well as (from what I've read online) how he was hired for Lost.

The fact is that even if you don't like Heroes it's already been a success for NBC. The word of mouth alone from critics and viewers who saw it before the premiere via the web or ComicCon generated enough interest to sell ad time for it at a nice rate as well as draw in curious viewers. I see this more as NBC taking chances again with genre material like they did with V in the 80's.

I hope you're right. I hope they actually take more chances, and sink some depth and substance into their programming line. Heroes may be a first step, no doubt. However, I'll wait until the third or fourth step to see if NBC can get there.

Like ST:TNG, ST:DSN, Rescue Me, and most other shows, it might take time. Now, if they backslide, yeah, let it go by the end of the season. The thing is that if it gets better and not worse as it progresses, it could turn into a damn fine series.

Ahhhh, because you don't seem to be able to explain it, is this where you steal bsams schtick and say "I win again!" ?

Don't tell me that you can't take the time to laugh at a small inside joke. Or is it that it's an inside joke that you won't life at it?

It tends to put you immediately at a disadvantage and IMO is a sign of true weakness.
