The fact that there was a trail of blood leading into the half-open manhole cover, and the camera made sure to show the cockroach, which was a call back to an earlier episode when he was also thought to have died.

Still like the show but thought the season ender was a let down. We get to Peter's big moment & he can't control the nuke power that the crazy guy could? It ends with him once again needing his brother bailing him out. Well he didn't need him to since he also had his brother's ability to fly. The other characters were sort of put off to the side while this is going on.

I'll be back watching next season but they messed up on this season finale IMHO.

Liked the episode, but Nathan swooping in to save the day felt forced. You knew it had to happen, but how did he sneak away from Grandma Petrelli. I'm looking forward to next season, I'd love to see the relationships between the "old guild" of superpowered characters.

SPOILERS!!!!

SPOILERS AHEAD

I really didn't expect Peter to go boom. He was a very likable character. Then again, we saw no actual body...

The end with Hiro in 1671 Japan was terrific!

I expect they'll introduce new heroes and villains next season.

It's been my understanding that Sylar is able to control the powers he gains (presumably through the eating of the brains of his victims - in what I find to be a nice twist on the worm bit Alan Moore used to describe Swamp Thing's origin) is due to his initial power - the ability to "see how things work".

Quote:

Would he have been able to fly, though? One of his powers was out of control - what makes you think his others wouldn't have been?

Oh, and did anyone else think that the eyes under Kensei's mask in 1671 looked a lot like George Takei's?

Yes, because we all know that a show with flying congressmen and regenerating cheerleaders should portray the combat training as realistically as possible. :

We accept things like time travel because its a science fiction story and, if we didn't, there wouldn't be a point to the story.

However, that fantasy element doesn't mean that we have to accept when people act implausibly or out of character. People should, for the most part, act plausibly in any situation. Otherwise, the story's internal logic fails.

They did that in " Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. "

The two went away someplace in time for 18 months and learned how to play guitar properly. They came back to the same point in time they'd left only a few seconds ago in relation to how others percieved time, back onstage, about to play a concert.

Yeah, they could have done that in Heroes with Hiro.

Hiro is learning how to use his powers. He is also growing as a person, gaining more confidence. He did not become brave overnight. It took a while. This is good! I'd still like to see the others learn different ways to use their abilities.

If Claire can self heal automatically, it would be logical to assume that she would have the ability to heal others.

Hoping the other Heroes learn to use their powers differently next season.

I do not think Peter is dead. I just don't. He's powerful and likable. There's no reason that he can't learn to control his powers.

But they were specific in showing the cockroach which, along with the "tick tock" sound, have become their artistic way of showing stuff for Sylar.

And yeah, Rob got outposted by me.

I don't think either brother is dead. I imagine Nathan flew Peter high enough and then dropped him and flew off so Peter exploded while falling but still high enough. And they clearly said Peter would survive the exploding because of Claire's power.

That makes sense.

The two are central characters.

I wonder how Peter uses his powers?

A few at a time, or, one at a time, like Ultraboy of the Legion of Superheroes?

Or do they sometimes kick in automatically? I expect that the healing factor is automatic. We have already seen that.

That is exactly what I have been saying about Claire. Healing others is the logical extension of being able to self - heal.

Both you and BeardGuy said this...How do ya figure?

One does not include the other simply cuz it "makes sense"

Claire's, and by extension; Peter's power is more like limited invulnerability similar to that of Wolverine. Why would this be transferable to another person? Linderman actually had the power to heal...he "un-crippled" Nathan's wife by touching her, he brought a plant back to life. To date, all the abilities possessed by one of the "heroes" has been unique to that hero...other than Peter and Sylar. Your theory is cool but it doesn't hold water.

Where has it been shown or implied that Claire or Peter could heal others as well as themselves? For that matter, if Peter had that ability, stress would probably have caused him to use it when Isaac shot and killed Simone.

Remember when Claude the invisble man was fighting Peter in the beginning of his training and caused him to unconsciously use a power to stop him (Claude) from hitting him (Peter ) with a bo staff? Seems like a certain amount of stress will make Peter access abilities that he might not be able to consciously control. Seeing Simone die seems like it could be stressful enough to trigger any healing power if Peter had one.

I'm also interested in the thought that Peter is still alive. He has the ability to regenerate or heal missing or broken parts of his body. Would this really work if he was blown into a million pieces by a nuclear explosion?

I agree with BeardGuy in that he is a likable main character and he seems integral enough to the show that they will pull a Deux Ex Machina and figure a plausible enough way for him to have survived...say Hiro froze time (which Peter is immune to) and Peter was able to somehow dispel the energy from his body, creating the appearance of an explosion. Hell, maybe even Peter was able to acess Hiro's power and do it himself.

However, shows like this almost have to kill main characters in order to keep the story fresh and moving. I'd say the chances that Peter is really dead are about 60/40 against...but there is a chance.

Even if he is dead...we'll see him again. Richard Roundtree's character (Simone's Father) seemed to have some type of pre(or post)-cog/awareness ability that allowed him to communicate with Peter after his death. Peter would have absorbed that as well.

In "Five Years Gone" Peter confides in Niki that he was the one who blew things up. That's how we know he's able to survive that sort of thing.

What I wanna see is whether or not the explosion is what caused the scar. Guess we'll find out next season.

I'm with Basty on this one. Thusfar, there has been no proof that they will eventually be able to heal others. They certainly can't do it now.

Quote:

The only reason that Claire has been able to "heal" Peter is not because she has the power to heal others, but because Peter's power is the ability to leech others' powers, a la Rogue. Though, of course, it appears that he now has absorbed the powers enough that he can use them on his own (to an extent - he's still learning how to control them all), but that doesn't mean his self-healing factor is a power he can use to help others.

Quote:

Heroes Gets an X-Men Factor
Fri Jun 1, 12:30 AM

Heroes is getting a new heroine.

Dania Ramirez, who currently has a recurring role on The Sopranos as A.J.'s (Robert Iler) romantic interest, will join the NBC sci-fi drama as a series regular for the second season, the network has confirmed.

She'll play Maya, a new hero whose powers have not yet been revealed.

Ramirez should prove a worthy addition, as she comes to the show with prior experience in portraying characters equipped with superhuman abilities.

A Heroes Welcome at Asian Awards
More Heroes to NBC's Rescue!
Heroes Looks Mortal
E! Online The Dominican Republic-born beauty played Callisto, a mutant possessed with extreme speed and enhanced senses, in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand. She also played Caridad, a potential slayer, in the final three episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Maya is one of four or five new characters expected to be added to Heroes for the second season, but Ramirez might be the only series regular, while the others may be relegated to recurring roles.

The remaining additions are said to include a love interest for Claire (Hayden Panettiere), a young, black surrogate mother for Niki's (Ali Larter) son, and an Irish mobster.

NBC was sufficiently pleased with the hit series' freshman season to not only renew it, but also to order six episodes of a spinoff titled Heroes: Origins, which will air when the original series is on hiatus.

Viewers who haven't been keeping up with the series to date need not despair; the season one DVD is due for release Aug. 28, allowing plenty of time to catch up before season two premieres this fall.

Heroes Taps Office, Alias for Reinforcements
Tue Jun 19, 9:08 PM

Now that she's helped save the world, the cheerleader may finally be able to focus on her social life.

It was announced Tuesday that Nick D'Agosto, formerly Jan's hottie assistant on The Office, is joining the cast of Heroes next season as West, a would-be boyfriend for Hayden Panettiere's regenerative daddy's girl Claire Bennet.

The actor, who also was recently seen in the indie comedy Rocket Science, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, is one of three new onscreen superhumans set to join the action on the hit NBC series' second season.

Also along for the ride will be Dania Ramirez, most lately of The Sopranos, where she played Blanca, the single mom who sent A.J. into a tailspin. The 26-year-old heartbreaker, whose powers are not yet known, will be a recurring character.

There's no word yet on whether these newbies will show up first in Heroes: Origins, the six-episode companion series NBC has on tap for fall to bolster interest in the overall Heroes oeuvre, or whether they'll head right for the main event.

Ramirez's page on IMDb, however, already lists her as having appeared in the first episode of Heroes' second season, entitled "Generations."

Also rumored to be in line for a Heroic romance is Miss Universe Riyo Mori, who could end up getting close to Masi Oka's samurai sword-wielding time traveler Hiro Nakamura, per buddytv.com.

All of which NBC is hoping will sustain interest for what turned out to be its most-watched scripted show of the 2006-07 season. Heroes averaged 14.5 million viewers, second on the Peacock Network only to Deal or No Deal.

Thanks Jeremy... that's what I get for doing other things while watching the show.

Who would drag him into the sewer though?

Dear, sweet Harley Kwink...I'm madly in love with you. Marry me! We can go to Canadia. Or Boston or something. It'll be grand...You know the cookies are a given. They are ALWAYS a given. You could dump me tomorrow and you'd still get the cookies. Boston..shit, wherever dyke weddings were legalized. And where better to rub their little piggie noses in how bad they suck than right on their doorstep? What are they gonna do? Be jealous of you? Stare furiously at your tah-tahs? Not willingly give you cookies, but instead begrudgingly give you their cookies? Woman, time to wake up to the powers you wield - Uschi

Negative. His body simply could have been dragged by someone else.
