Darmo had defeated the enemy robot, but in so doing, had sustained fatal damage. His reactor core was going to blow. Not even his famed self repair system would be able to restore him.

His long distance sensors had detected the enemy airships. He messaged the Professor, and then proceded to position himself near a group of the aircraft.

He blew himself up, taking several of them with him. Many of the paratroopers who were caught in the explosion burst into flames. Their screams were ignored. A commander on a nearby craft just shrugged; they had many millions of troops. They were all expendable as far as he was concerned.

Darmo had more heart than that man, and now he was gone. It hardly seemed fair.

Meanwhile, the Professor had recieved Darmo's final transmission, and had played it for Ray.

"This is bad." Ray understated.

"Truly. Ray, I hate to ask you this, but.."

" Yes. I'll go and help. It's the best way to honor Darmo's memory.. his courage, and his loyalty to friends and.. family. "

"Your intuitive abilities are getting stronger. That's a good thing. You'll need them to survive.. this is an extremely dangerous mission that you're about to undertake, Ray. "

Carol and her parents walked into the room.

"What's this talk about danger?" Ray's father demanded to know.

The Professor explained the situation. Ray's mother at once looked frightened, and his father looked angry.

"We almost lost you in LA, we're not about to go through that again. " Ray's father said, not at all happy about this new turn of events.

"Dad, I've got to help... this is a really dire situation. The country's being taken over. Now that I have ten times the normal strength and speed of a man, and the ability to disguise myself as anyone I choose, right down to their memory ingrams, thus giving me their memories and abilities, I have an obligation to help!" Ray told his father.

" He's right. I think he can pull it off. Maybe even stop the invasion.... what if he impersonated whoever is in charge of it,and could order them all to break off the attack?" Carol asked of her parents.

They thought it over and realized that she was right.

Ray said his goodbyes. No one was sure when or even if he would survive. He was a man who liked to help others. To Ray, this was no different from any of those other times he'd helped people... except that there was a LOT more at stake here.

The Professor took Ray into the invisible ship, still parked in the back yard.

They strapped themselves in and took off in the direction of the invading aircraft.

The Professor said a silent prayer. He had finally found his son. He did not want to lose him again.
