to be totally honest, if i were to cast a Green Hornet film, I'd adapt the NOW comics, and cast Ryan Phillipe as Paul Reid, the 90's era Hornet.

I'd also go with the NOW Comic's version of the Hornet costume, which was a green Mardi Gras mask almost identical to Parallax's or Kyle Raynor's Green Lantern mask (and which pre-dated both DC character's first appearances), a green fedora, a green trenchcoat, and a yellow scarf. He'd use an electrolaser pistol (a "sting" gun) instead of his famous gas pistol.

Ever see Way of the Gun? After that, I could see him as Paul Reid.

Ever read the NOW comics? According to their story, there have been at least 4 Green Hornets: the original, who was the Green Hornet of the 30's and 40's; the "Van Williams" Green Hornet from the 60's, a younger Hornet from the comics who went on one mission and was killed by an explosion, and then the last and latest Green Hornet, Paul Reid. All are related to each other. They turned it into a family legacy.

Besides, in real life Paul Reid was a concert pianist. Kinda fopish at first. I can see Ryan Phillipe pulling it off.

Green Hornet was sposed to be a descendant of the Lone Ranger at one point!

He still is. That connection is established in the very first issue.
