BUT : If the two forums can be reunited....and it works.. then, I am all for it.
Having no Mod in the Politics/Current events forum, and leaving it as it is could be interesting. It might make it fun enough that those who avoided it might become more likely to post there now.
Having a new mod(s) could simply bring about the same problems and flame wars it was plagued with before.
Or, it could make it different enough that posters who avoided it might be enticed to check it out.
When I think about it, why do we have mods at all? Other boards which are repressive and controlled with an iron fist use mods to delete posts, threads, and ban repeat offenders.
This is not such a place. It is an experiment in depravity. The only way you could get banned in here is if you were so evil and disruptive that it would become a moral imperitive that Rob give you the boot.
Mods don't ban people here. They don't normally delete or move threads, and they aren't warning people and then banning them. Only Rob can ban you in here.
I'm not urging for any particular direction, or for all mods to be demoted. I just want people to think about this carefully before a decision is made.
