With the return to the black costume I can't help but keep wondering.
Is there a reason that Spiderman seem to be straight in the middle of this Civil War thing.
I know as a Marvel flagship character Spiderman holds great importance to Marvel and many readers, but in the general Marvel Universe there are other heroes with greater importance than him.
So why is he being given such an apparent prominent role in the Civil War. Is he being shown off as a poster child for registration or something? Because they way I see it he's one of those heroes who has been screwed over the most by the civil war, and here I'm talking solely about screwed over by his fellow "heroes" and not the writers.
Or more likely, is it just a marketing ploy from Marvels side?

That's an interesting point.
For pretty much his entire history, Spidey has been perceived by the general public, or a large chunk of it, as a "masked menace." In fact, there have always been rumors that he was somehow responsible for the death of Capt. Stacy, and others.
Why would someone want his endorsement? It would be almost like have having OJ Simpson, or some other highly controversial figure, endorsing your political platform.

Kirstin Dunst has been saying this is her last movie and over in the comic strip Stan Lee's writing a plot about how Spidey thinks he's "lost" MJ to Hollywood. And Stan (or his ghostwriter) tends to try and mirror the movies as much as he can (putting the same villains in the strip during the time the movie's out, having X-men, Punisher and Blade appearances when THEIR movies came out, etc.)
