And, to be fair, one of my favorite friends there is blind and I take every opportunity available to make fun of that and we're still friends. That guy never fit there. He never got the spirit of the RKMBs. We're gonna keep an eye on the obits, see if he finally left or if he really did have a heart attack.

Well, that'll take a while. Instead of telling you generalities, it might be best for me to look at your situation specifically.
Okay, first part. I know it's obvious but there are two basic things you really should consider before you look into building your computer. First, what do you want to use your computer for, and, second, how much are you willing to spend.
Yeah, like I said, they're obvious. Most people who either end up spending too much or unhappy with their result do so because they didn't have a clear answer to at least one of those questions.
A gamer needs a different PC than an internet fanatic. Your budget will determine how much money you can spend on each component.
So what do you want and what do you have?

honestly, if you actually believe half the user reviews or editor reviews on cnet.com you should just go kill yourself.
example - I just bought a Canon Rebel XTi. why would I check cnet for a DSLR of that sort? i wouldn't there's handfuls of better user opinion sies dedicated to cameras. I just checked cnet about the camera and they prefer the nikon DSLR. nikon's procressors are out of date and don't delivery accorate colour.

Havent even looked at my Photoshop stuff yet as I am still transferring a load of stuff from the old PC, but I have really noticed my photos are a lot more detailed than I realised, so am worried bout how my PS stuff is gonna look now!
Well it now has a second DVD burning drive installed (just needed another DVD rom drive, but for the money they cost now days you might as well buy one that burns as well), 2GB of ram to replace the 512mb it came with and finally a nice shiny new graphics card (Sapphire X1950Pro 512MB DDR3 Dual DVI VIVO AGP)
