And how did they follow that up? With a lackluster main event against Buff Bagwell that ended when Kurt and Stone Cold made them both look like chumps.

Let me clarify (as you apparently don't believe in subtext or anything): From his debut during the invasion angle up to just before his King of the Ring win, Booker had been almost constantly buried in the midcard. His few main event opportunities were doomed to begin with; the best time he was on a roll and had the best chance of repairing the invasion damage was during his WM feud with HHH, but HHH pretty much killed that and Booker was schlepped down to the midcard.

I'm gonna say this one thing, then I'm done arguing the subject: a half-hearted or half-assed push, like Booker got, is practically the same as no push at all. Regardless, no matter who they pushed, they all but guaranteed that no one, NO ONE, was on the level that HHH was.

Not as champ, no, but you wouldn't know from all the main events DX have gotten. There've been a few times that they have overshadowed the championship match at a PPV. Kinda like the time when HHH didn't have the belt, and he and Shawn Michaels (feuding with each other) got the top match spot over the reigning champ.
