I know how you both feel. "Respect" is the new way to say "break the bank for me now!!!" Pedro used it against the Red Sox (twice). Damon used it in a more disgusting way (his position was "I'll never play for the Yankees but I deserve more 'respect' than the team captain..."). It's Wily Mo Pena's rallying cry going into arbitration this year (with the added bonus of his agent adding "if the Red Sox want to make Wily Mo feel like part of the team..."). As much as I liked Damon and Pedro on the team, I have to respect the team for not caving into that type of "negotiation". And the team was proven right in Pedro's case.

I still think that the Yankees should re-sign Rivera (I save "Mo" for my suh-weetie!). But it's a shame that he has to sink to this level...
