I thought it would be unusual and he IS illegitimate, just with an Irish dad. "Reddish" probably would have been a better word than "red".

You're assuming that people know what the south side of Chicago is like. I have no idea what its like and never would have drawn that inference.
Edit: Actually, the more I think about this, the more I like the idea of them being half-sibs...NW, I think this gives them a shared history beyond just being heist partners and can prove to be fertile grounds for a twist or two down the line...
I like the idea, I was just surprised and explaining some of the strange, strange reasoning that goes through my head. It definitely opens possibilities and gives him a connection to one of the other characters beyond working together (and not being part of the love duodecagon that's been constructed).
