OK so I just read the first 7 issues...at the point where there were 5 to go I found myself wondering..."What the fuck is Ellis smoking, and why should I be enjoying this book?" The fact is I didn't enjoy it although I enjoyed the art. This seemed like Ellis trying to pass off fanboy self-loathing onto the general populace. Ellis used about 6 or 7 comic/pop culture gags that were borrowed from other sources--maybe that was the point, but it was lazy regardless.
At any rate when Ellis is on he is on, but in this case he was very very off the mark. If you enjoy mish mash that is "funny" you may enjoy this..in my mind it went nowhere and wasn't supposed to go anywhere--it just is.
Can anyone explain to me why I was supposed to enjoy this?
