Yeah, the people who took advantage of the mistake were assholes.
However, I think the station is going to have a problem trying to collect from them since it was the fault of a station employee. Even if a compelling legal argument could be made that this was the customers' fault, the cost of taking them to court would probably be more than the lost profit on the gas.
