If I have an Apple router for my iMac and mac book....but would like to use my Dell Laptop through that also what should I do. Right now I am using a DLink router for the Dell but will soon be getting rid of it.

Get rid of the iMac and mac book, keep the DLink router and buy PCs only.

Have you tried using the Dell with the apple router? It should work unless Apple really hates things working together.

Just get rid of all of your PC stuff and stick with Apple...

I'm in the process of doing that. PCs really suck when you compare them to Macs.

By the way I got an iPhone a few days ago and it is far superior to anything out there. Way better than Blackberry.

I like having two mouse buttons. I have recently taken a job where I have to use Macs. FUCK Mac.

I took a introduction to macintosh class in college a couple years ago. Click three or four different keys instead of right clicking makes the whole system completely and utterly flawed.

I can't navigate the desktop very well. Things are not organized in an easilly identifyable way. I can't force the computer to fix things when it freezes. Because "Macs don't freeze." So, when they DO, there's no recourse. Not even rebooting, 'cause that justr shuts it part-way down and then re-instates the same fuckup situation when you turn it back on.

Plus I dunno how to find image properties on 'net pictures, so I can't steal them on a mac.

Connect your Dell to the iRouter and be done with it.

They are most likely Windows compatible.

Didn't Apple introduce the two button mouse a year or so ago? Along with the Intel processors and ability to run Windows, Mac's are becoming very PC.

Yeah, well, the place I work doesn't keep up with the trends. BUT, in order to make us compatable with a new fax/scan/printer, we had to buy a PC. So once they hook that up to the printers, Imma gonna use THAT.

that said, why the FUCK would you want to pay half again as much for a computer that does the same thing?

I'm using it.....I believe it is better.....much much better. It's my opinion. Give it a few years. You might be singing a different tune.

macs are definitely more user-friendly to individuals that aren't crazy computer savvy. PCs are most often dubbed "better" just because they're more common and everyone has 35+ years experience with them already.

macs are, of course, way more expensive, too, but often more powerful (than your average PC) and have way fewer issues (than your average PC).

all that said; fuck'em.

pcs have issues, for sure. difference being that a pc will let you at enough of the operating system to fix those issues, and most pcs are also fairly easy to open up and fix if there's a hardware problem. with a mac, the os locks you out of many of the system's core functions, so if there is by some chance a significant software problem (not unheard of), you're pretty much screwed unless you let an apple tech charge you through the nose or break out the restore discs and start all over. same thing from the hardware angle. with the exception of some higher-end powermacs, most macs have cases that require certain tools to open up and work inside of, which again will leave you at the mercy of apple techs. and given how much they charge when they sell you the damn things, you can imagine what they'll charge to come to your home or workplace and fix them.

ultimately, if you're satisfied with a fairly limited scope of software on a reasonably powerful system with a 'user-friendly' and predictable but somewhat limited operating system, then you'll be happy with a mac. 'user-friendliness' has absolutely no value to me personally, and I'm patient enough and knowledgeable enough that I can fix both software and hardware problems that come my way. excluding the reliability issues which I resolve myself at no cost to me, my pc is more than powerful enough to do anything I want it to do. (by the way, macs are often billed as 'more powerful' because they have a more memory-efficient operating system, and between that and the aforementioned limited scope of software they have a slightly larger percentage of their system resources free at any given time.)

it's your money. if you feel the need for a 'user-friendly' system that takes away your hardware and software flexibility at half again the cost, then go for it. but you're a smart guy, peejus, and you don't strike me as the kind of guy who would need to lean on a 'user-friendly' crutch. granted, my time in electronics retail has done a lot to lower my opinion of those who do. but it's a matter of what you want to be able to do with your computer. and I really do think that to some extent you're painting yourself into a corner by going the mac route. just my opinion.

but seriously, if I had enough money for a second computer, that I would just use for a/v editing and animation and stuff, I would consider a mac. there's just no question, though, that for everything else, especially games, my computer does it way better.
