A person can be both liberal and independent. Being and Independent means you don't belong to a party, which isn't totally indicative of your politics.
You really gotta stop speaking like you have a handle on what makes sense. Cause if you are liberal then you do belong to a party and might as well say you are liberal. I suppose I could say I'm a independant who leans to the left...but I don't. I have just as many conservative ideas as liberal. It just so happens that right now the conservatives piss me off more.
All this is completely irrelevant cause even if you can be both Liberal and Independant it doesn't matter cause I'm not.
