With the recent and honestly shocking news that JLA is expected to be in production this summer the question still remains, Canada or Australia?

Just days before the trades came back with the news that JLA was back, George Miller confirmed that the studio was looking at possibly going to shoot the film in Canada.

But did things change after the studio announced that it was planning to go in front of lens this summer?

We are hearing that Warner Bros. is currently trying to negotiate with the Australian Government to get a better tax break for the production but some of the production staff believe that Canada will end up winning over.

Regarding the status of the rewrites, we've been told the biggest problem with the current script was the lackluster third act. Apparently, the story has already been 100% reworked.

Also, the only department currently working on the film is the "art department" and apparently they are responsible for the major beats of the newly rewritten third act.

A few more new tidbits on the production…we are told some of the designs originally being considered for the look of the film have been described as "ultra-stylized".

And regarding the rumors that Batman and Superman had been removed from the story, "total bullshit" is the exact response we received this afternoon from Australia.

Damn you and such. But yeah, it was pretty cool. It's probably best that I haven't read the source material yet. Still gotta watch the bonus features on the other DVD.

Is Hayden Christensen the New Superman?

Take from this what you will, but Cinema Blend is reporting on a tip they received from someone who was hanging with Adam Brody in a bar up in British Columbia. What's Brody doing there? Well, apparently some of the cast is with George Miller scouting locations for Justice League Mortal. (Not sure why they'd be up there with the director scouting, but let's roll with it for now ...) Anyway, Brody, Miller and a few others were in a bar, getting wasted, when this girl (who wrote into CB) asked him what they all were doing there. Naturally he said they were scouting for Justice League Mortal (which recently had to shift production from Australia to Canada). Then it gets interesting.

Here's her full quote: "George is our director. He said he's playing The Flash, Common is playing Green Arrow (or Lantern, one or the other), Armie Hammer (sounded like Arm and Hammer) is Batman, someone from "mad max" is Martian Man-hunter (didn't catch the name) and Hayden Christensen is Superman. Brody also nodded to the woman to his right and said "she (he said her name but I didn't catch it) is in it too". Oh, and they had lots of drinks." While I'm very reluctant to believe this one, on the other hand I could totally buy them wanting Christensen to play Superman. He'd bring some more "celebrity" to the cast, even though the fanboys who hated him Star Wars would hate him again -- even more this time -- for Superman. Should be interesting to see this one play out, as Justice League Mortal is supposed to begin shooting this summer.

Verheiden was recently announced as the writer of the film, but work has been on hold until the writer's strike cleared. Now the scribe is talking and revealing copious details to Comic Mix.

"One thing I can tell you is that there will be a Nightwing story and Robin is in it, too," Verheiden revealed. "We'll also be dealing with a transitional period in the lives of the Teen Titans. It will be a huge, fun, action movie but it's the characters first. What makes them interesting and exciting? That's how I approach any story."

"There’s a lot of ways to go with this, but my 'take,' if you want to call it that, is to try and make them as real as possible given the circumstances. Possibly a little bit more of a heightened realism in this, much like they’ve done in the comic recently.

"The trick is to find a balance between the realism of how they can work in this world so you can connect with them and they feel real to you, and then the fact they have powers, or most of them do, they have fun and do what they do.

"We’re not going to make it grim and gritty or anything, but it will have great jeopardy, action and conflict. The bottom line is, we’re going to try and have some fun with it, which is the best way to describe it."

Verheiden says he'll be drawing from the Wolfman and Perez golden age of the books, but the Titans are definitely teens in the film, and not young adults. The writer also commented on the studio's feelings about the project:

"One, they are absolutely committed to doing this move. Two, they are absolutely committed to doing it right, so the fans who love and revere it will get something they love and doesn’t make their heads explode."

Verheiden also said that, while the movie will have villains, the core conflict is going to be something much more universal. "We’re going to have some strong adversaries, or antagonists, but really, I’m trying to concentrate on the core group of these characters, who we meet at a point when they’re at the cusp of adulthood. Actually, when I first started thinking about it, I wondered what it would be like, for example, to be Tom Cruise’s son if you wanted to get into acting. You have a lot of baggage to overcome.

"It's the same with this story. It's no secret Robin is in this movie, so what if you were him, after living in the shadow of Bruce Wayne and Batman, and now you wanted to go off on your own and become your own man, your own superhero? That’s got to be a huge thing to overcome. That makes it interesting for me."

i think all you have to do is look at the uproar at Michael Keaton being cast as Batman to see how retarded fan boys are when it comes to prejudging comic book movies...
