Weak title.

Still gonna see it though...

i'd prefer indiana jones IV -- or go the rocky route and just call it "indiana" or something.

buuuuut, whatever. who cares about the title. ... unless its "batman: the dark knight" which is the coolest title ever.

well Rocky VI went with "Rocky Balboa" while Rambo 3 went with "John Rambo," the full names of both lead characters.
Indiana is a nickname, and the dog's name. So if they went the same route they would call it "Henry Jones" not "Indiana."

If I hadn't just watched the third film I would never have remembered that little fact...

It seems to escape you people that the Indiana movies are homages to the Saturday serials of the 30's, 40's, and 50's. The title reflects that. It's really no different than The Raiders of the Lost Ark (like the Rambo films, the first movie didn't have the main character's name in the title until the sequels), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

New York Post

  • A BIG-mouthed extra working on the new "Indiana Jones" flick has blown his fledgling movie career to smithereens by spilling the film's major plot points.

Director Steven Spielberg and producer George Lucas made the entire cast and crew of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" sign nondisclosure agreements. But Tyler Nelson - cast as a "dancing Russian soldier" - gave an interview to his hometown newspaper, the Edmond Sun in Oklahoma, in which he revealed that:

    * Indy, played once again by Harrison Ford, and the Soviet army are both searching for a priceless skull made of crystal in the jungles of South America.

    * The Russians take Indy hostage and then blackmail him by threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend and mother of his son, Marion Ravenwood, portrayed by Karen Allen. Cast as the son is Shia LaBeouf.

    * Cate Blanchett plays an evil Russian who grills Indy. "I saw Harrison Ford strapped to a chair and being interrogated," Nelson told the paper.

Nelson's own big scene comes when he celebrates Indy's capture by dancing to balalaika folk music. But it's doubtful the footage of the 24-year-old actor - a professionally trained ballet dancer who studied at the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow - will make it into the final cut. Spielberg, furious Nelson blabbed, has reportedly snipped his scene.

Meanwhile, there have been behind-the-scenes machinations to get the story squashed. Nelson got the Edmond Sun to yank the story from its Web site, with an employee there telling us: "We removed it out of respect to a hometown boy." And plot-spoilers posted on Harry Knowles' influential Ain't It Cool News site also vanished. Knowles didn't return our call.

The movie, fourth in the "Indiana Jones" series, is set to hit theaters in May.

I read an interview with Harrison Ford today. He told a story that, during the filming of the original "Star Wars" trilogy, he told Lucas that he thought it would be a stronger story if Han actually died at the end of "Jedi". According to Ford, Lucas turned him down because he wanted to still be able to sell "Han Solo" toys.

God I hate Lucas. I'm not even a fan of either Star Wars or Indiana Jones and I can tell he'd destroy whatever quality they have if given the chance.

On that note, I'm really surprised they picked something as obscure as the crystal skulls. I figure they would have gone for El Dorado...But I suppose that's been getting too much publicity as a legend lately. I'm interested in seeing if they decide the crystal skulls were designed by Atlantians or Lemurians. Either way, it would probably piss off more than a few scientists since they don't want the exhibition of the Atlantus theory screwing up their well-established time line of human advancement.

wow, Pariah is trying to shit on a movie people are looking forward to before it even comes out by acting like an expert on the subject matter. Yeah, I saw the crystal skull episode of unsolved mysteries and stargate too.
and if you're not a fan of indiana jones or star wars why are you even talking about george lucas and the new indiana jones movie at all?

but yeah george lucas is not the genius he pretends to be. he has some good ideas which are then expanded by other talented writers and then he unfortunately pretends to be the driving force behind everything.

Not to mention his best films were directed by Spielberg. Granted, Spielberg can pretty much make anything watchable. Except A.I.

I....Didn't shit on the movie. I said I was surprised that they picked the relatively obscure Crystal Skull legends over the more exposed and well known El Dorado.

If anything I'm taking a shot at the scientists who believe there's no way that humans could be advanced enough to make the skulls pre-Neolithic era.

Pre-Neolithic man COULD have made a crystal skull, provided that their work was carried out for generations after. Let's be honest- it's highly unlikely that a caveman could've made such a realistic skull with the primitive tools and techniques available.

That's just the thing. The very existence of the Crystal Skull contests the "cave man" theories for pre-10,000 BC.

you did shit on the movie in the first line while admitting to not being a fan to begin with.
the crystal skull mystery is very interesting but i seriously doubt an indiana jones film will focus on the real story so much as a glamorized fictional adventure around a cool looking artifact.

So what you are actually saying, is his best films that you like, are directed by Spielberg!

Thats like me saying that a shitty film is better than a popular blockbuster, just because I prefer the shitty film!

The amount of hype surrounding this movie is really getting on my nerves.

Every other two commercials it's either a preview or some sort of sponsorship by a third party.

I never thought that theme would irritate me so much.
