just saw this last night. really enjoyed it. i dont think it was as good as batman begins, but im sure a lot of that is my bias towards batman. dunno if you guys know, but he's my favorite comic book character.

by far, this was my favorite marvel movie. i didn't like hulk, never really saw much in any of the spideys. punisher and ghost rider were meh. the xmen series was fun, but got progressively less so. iron man just seemed like it was well made.

i tried not to read this thread before i saw the film, but i did skim through someone's post who stated that they really liked the character build portions, which i really agree with.

my favorite part of the spidey films was the first half of the first movie, before he actually became spiderman. seeing the progression through his high school years and dealing with the bullies and such... that was really cool. i thought the same of batman begins -- the first portion where he's all in training is just so damn cool.

iron man had that feeling through out. even though he had the full set of armor at the end of the movie, it was as if he was still in the building process, and not yet sure or confident of his heroic decisions.

plus, unlike many other super hero films, this one was fun.

batman begins i loved because its a darker, "believable" take on the whole batman story. other movies aroudn this time seem to follow in the same suit, though fail in comparison. iron man takes a believable spin, but never ignores its "silly" part, in that its a guy in a super hero tank outfit. i really liked that whole part of the story.

i dont know all that much about iron man comic books, so i have no critiques good or bad about how true it stayed to the printed story. but, as far as a movie goes, it was fun. definitely a good take.
