whomod has always been one of those guys who attacks Bush and Cheney for starting the war in Iraq but not actually serving in combat.
However, at the same time, we have him starting the war between the EGA forum and here, but being conspicuously absent in his own posting.
So...is whomod a chickenhawk?
Note: by 'chickenhawk' I mean in the military sense, not a man who preys on young boys. We already know the answer to that.
Actually, we subcontract that position out to a guy in India. Does good work and is real cheap.
Let me take a break from battling the Insurgency folks for a moment to tell this story:
I'm in the process of buying a house and decided, in order to tighten up my credit, to consolidate two credit cards I have from the same company into one card with the combined credit limit. I call up the company and end up with an Indian/Pakistani/etc operator. The chick says, "Thank you for calling [company name]. I'm here to help you. My name is Kimi."
I don't say a word because I'm waiting for her to finish her name. We sit in uncomfortable silence for a few moments, then she asks if anyone's there and can she help me. I break out of my confused silence and say, "Hi Kimi. Sorry 'bout that. Yes, I'd like some help..."
I felt bad for a moment because I just assumed that her name was Kimilingabaresh or something. Like she was going to use her "full name" instead of an obviously fake "American" name. I mean, she just might as well have said, "Party on, customer! I'm Buffy...what's the 411?" in her thick accent. Which leads to the question: why do Indian/Pakistani/etc customer service reps get forced to use fake names that no one's buying? If you can't fake an "American" dialect, why waste anyone's time with a name we know isn't yours?
