I've only witnessed 4 tornados (and abut half a dozen funnel clouds that never touched down), and they were rather titchy. Being so close to the mountains breaks them up pretty fast. It's so beautiful with tornados though... pea-soup sky and lightning EVER'WHER' and the PAP! of hailstones...

Last year we had 3-4 crane collapses by a new portion of the interstate due to record windspeeds. They shut down for a week and a half and fixed the problem and nothing bad since. Plus the company did a phenomenal job, a bunch of people around town left thank-you cards for the speed, fluidity, and management of the construction. really was well planned. not often y'see something so well done in construction... something noteworthy.
