http://www.krdo.com/Global/story.asp?S=8418266 MEXICO - A Texas man has been arrested for driving under the influence, falling
asleep at the wheel and hitting bicyclists in a race. One person was killed
and 10 others were injured when Juan Campos, apparently drunk, crashed his car
into the racers riding down a highway in Monterrey, near the U.S.-Mexico
border.
According to police, the drunken Campos fell asleep at the wheel. This
photograph was taken by a city official at the exact moment of the accident.
It happened 15 minutes into the race.
A total of 452 cyclists were participating in the 21-mile race, which was
canceled after the incident.
That's both funny and sad at the same time.
I feel badly for the guy who was killed.
That is one heck of a photo, though. The photographer really thought fast to get such
a perfectly timed photo to capture the event. Where I live in Florida, we have our fair share of bizzarre accidents. A few
years ago, an old lady drove across a lawn in an apartment complex,
went through a fence, ran over and killed a 35-year-old guy on a lounge
chair, before sinking her car in the swimming pool.
Several times, elderly drivers have passed the warning gate and driven up a
drawbridge, over the top, and into a canal.
Very close to my home, a car parked on the railroad tracks at a crossing, and
the car was hit by a train, and carried on the tracks for 2 miles!
These things may be funny to us, but I'm sure they're not funny to the people they actually happened to.
