Yeah...ugh.

I don't even want to go there though.

BTW, Grimm, I'm surprised that you're supporting rex. I mean you did insinuate he was wrong for chasing Beardguy off. And you also posted about how rex was probably as much a pedophile as Beardguy was.

I respected that. I really did. It takes a lot to stand up to a bully; to choose your own path and not follow the crowd.

What happened? Surely you don't agree that rex is right to chase people off he doesn't like or agree with? And I know that as an attorney (you are an attorney, aren't you?) you really couldn't get behind people who would post such vulgar things about a newborn baby girl, could you?

There's no reason for you to be involved in this sordid affair. Ironic, I know considering the general attitude towards attorneys, but still. Why not sit this one out? Let rex, BSAMs, Joe Mama, Uschi, Sammitch and some of the others take some heat for awhile.

If I were you, I'd actually enjoy watching them get their comeuppance (calm down rex, it's not that kind of cum and it's not going "uppance" you).

Think about it.

Zzap!

See, this post makes me chuckle for just how wrong it is. Clearly, you and yours didn't do a moment of research before commiting to your "raid."

If any of you had just come over and cracked jokes at Rex's expense, no one would've said a thing about it. We all make jokes at Rex's expense. We probably would've run with your jokes if they were particularly witty or good. The mistake you made - strictly from my vantage point - was in sending an overexcited Halo82 over. You'll notice my involvement was minimal until Halo's "this board is now the Insurgents' toilet" line. You all went on the attack when one of your own got butthurt about a stupid alt, what did you expect would happen when that post was made. If anything, your actions, and those of your "raiders" did more to unify this board than anything else could've.

Personally, I have no gripe with any of you. Not even Halo. But if you insist on coming here and making cracks at me or others, you have to expect that shots will be taken right back at you. Hell, we make fun of each other and most of us get along. As anyone will tell you, I don't raid. I've been to your board exactly once, and that was by invitation - actually, I've been given multiple invitations to join that board. You'll find no post there that are mine. But as far as I'm concerned, the treatment you all have received has always been exactly what you asked us for and as long as you or Halo or any of your own come over and continue this "raid," I'll be here to return aggression in kind.

Well, today at least. I'll be a bit busy starting tomorrow closing on a house and moving in.

Thanks, YB. The process of actually buying the house was quick, but the decision to stop renting and become owners was a long time coming.

House prices dropped to an acceptable level. My bank's interest rate dropped to something I could live with. I "found" the money for a down payment. A lot of factors. Also, I got sick of my apartment and our neighbors. That helped me make my decision.

Without knowing where you live or the house prices/interest rates in your area, I'd say "yes," particularly if you're buying a condo. But I'd say that with a bit of a disclaimer - do your research. Find out what the condo prices are, check around to see which banks offer the best interest rates, get yourself a realtor - a buyer's realtor will always look out for their client, and keep in mind that condos come with various fees and might become a bit of an albatross if and when you decide to sell. So, while you may want to buy your condo, you may also want to look into actual houses (which are generally easier to sell).

A house, huh? That probably would be better. I really want something on the beach though and I don't know if I can afford a house there. I can afford the beach condo.

I have this inheritance from my Grandparents and I need to decide whether I want to invest it in mutual funds or something like that or buy real estate. Do you know if there's a capital gains tax enacted right now?

Honestly, I don't know. If you have a 401k through your job, you may want to call whoever handles it for you and ask them some questions. Or, if you know someone who knows finances and whom you trust, you could pick their brain. That's how I started the house hunting process - I got my financial ducks in a row. The best thing you can do is to figure out EXACTLY what you want in your new home (you want beachfront property, I wanted a home big enough to give my gal and I a spare bedroom for guests and an office for us, for example), do the previously mentioned research, and look at both condo and home prices. You might be surprised.

Eesh. That sounds like a lot of work. I'm only 20. I'm not trying to hear that. Can't someone just tell me what to buy and I'll buy it? God?

Maybe I'll just blow all my money on weed and cheap vodka.

on which? If you buy a condo/co-op/house and live in it (it must be used for your own residential use, not as an investment) for at least two years you don't have to pay capital gains taxes on it - at least up to the first 250k if your're single, 500k if you're married. After that you would have to pay taxes, though.

And given how the subprime disaster has fucked with the real estate market throughout the country, right now its a buyer's market. But Joe gave good advice - do your research and get a buyer's realtor, i.e., if a broker is representing the property you want to buy they are a seller's broker and their duty lies with the seller not you. Just something to keep in mind... good luck!

Always an option. But, if you decide against what sounds like it would be one hell of a party, the easiest thing to do is to put your money into some kind of interest bearing account until you decide that the time is right to make your financial move.

Or, if you're just looking to be told what to do: BUY A HOUSE!

("Show your boobies" would've been too obvious and your Insurgent buddies are already chuffed at me as is. ;\) )

Just something to keep in mind... good luck!

If I only lived in it four months out of the year and rented the other 8 months while I'm in college could it still count as my residence?

Hmmm...I'm not sure - but given that you only live in it only 1/3 of the year I'm inclined to say no though. Sorry, hon...

Dear, sweet Harley Kwink...I'm madly in love with you. Marry me! We can go to Canadia. Or Boston or something. It'll be grand...You know the cookies are a given. They are ALWAYS a given. You could dump me tomorrow and you'd still get the cookies. Boston..shit, wherever dyke weddings were legalized. And where better to rub their little piggie noses in how bad they suck than right on their doorstep? What are they gonna do? Be jealous of you? Stare furiously at your tah-tahs? Not willingly give you cookies, but instead begrudgingly give you their cookies? Woman, time to wake up to the powers you wield - Uschi

Think about it.

you still think we support rex?

ok, since you're actually making efforts at dialogue and understanding, I'll accommodate you here.

as far as the beardguy thing, yeah, it was a little too harsh for my liking. my philosphy has always been, if it bothers you or you don't like it, then ignore it. however, on the flip side, there were a large number of posters who were turned off by his presence/posting. ultimately, he just didn't fit here. it's not the way I would've handled it, but there you go.

as far as the "whomod's daughter" and "LLance's grandchild" and other such alts, I truly don't take them seriously. let's look at "whomod's daughter" for a second. it's rex. knowing what you do about the shit life he has how can you possibly take that seriously? he's never gonne reproduce or even get a chance to unload in a woman who isn't made of wool. so how can you really get worked up over that knowing the small mind (and penis!) behind it? you know it's not really "whomod's daughter" just as I know it's not really "LLance's grandchild."

I understand certain people being worked up over the "family" thing. everyone has their own pet peeves. Nowhereman had a pretty big thing with somebody (don't remember who) a few years back over this very same thing. he's very overtly stated he doesn't care for his parents being made an issue of. generally, most of us do stay away from that, even when in a heated argument and mocking the hell out of and raking each other over the coals over other shit.

but again, there's a flip-side. "yo mama" jokes are a prevalent part of much of today's culture. to many people, it's simply a part of hanging out and goofing around. this is similar to a lot of the mentality of the Rob's Board. there is a certain "Roast" or "hazing" type mentality here. the majority of it is fun natured. we give each other shit quite a lot. most of us here have known each other either online or in real life for many years now, so we have a certain comfort level with each other. many people don't stick around long enough to realize the truth of that. you do have to have a bit of a thick skin.

I have no kids (nor do I want any, you can keep them!), but I'm aware that people who do are very protective of them. so I can where whomod and LLance's (and yours, as you have kids, iirc) opinions diverge from mine on this matter. but again, I have to say, knowing how pathetic rex's actual life is, how can you really get worked up over what he does?

whomod, I don't know as well as some, but I have seen him overreact to many things here on many occasions (hell, I've had my share of bitchy days). I've also had one or two discussions about music with him where he's been very civil. I've got no real beef with him, although I do think he's a tad jumpy. I can understand him feeling like he was ganged up on and mistreated, but I do think he should look back at some of the examples of his own behavior and see where he brought some things on himself. I'm not referring to the "daughter" bit here.

there's more (don't worry, Halo, I'll get round to addressing you! ) but I'm strapped for time at the moment.
